Shinji Tanaka

Content marketing consultant and writer.


Born and currently resides in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto. After studying consumer behaviour at Kumamoto University's graduate school, he worked as a full-time teacher (geography and history) at Minamata High School in Kumamoto Prefecture and as a reporter for the Sankei Shimbun before founding the content marketing agency Kumabase in 2015. He attended marketing conferences abroad and observed marketing success stories from all over the world. He continues to share his findings with Japan through seminars, workshops, lectures and writing. He writes for Forbes JAPAN Web Edition, Nikkei Cross Trend, Yahoo! News and other publications. He is the author of Cult Branding (Shodensha Shinsho) and co-author of Marketing ZEN (Nihon Keizai Shimbun Publishing).
